Accessibility Plan

The school accessibility plan is a written strategy to improve access to the curriculum, physical environment, and information for disabled pupils, ensuring equality and inclusion under the Equality Act 2010.

Purpose of an Accessibility Plan

Under the Equality Act 2010, all schools are required to have an accessibility plan.

The plan covers how we will:

  • Increase the extent to which pupils with disabilities can participate in the curriculum
  • Improve the physical environment to enable pupils with disabilities to take better advantage of the education, benefits, facilities and services we provide
  • Improve the availability of accessible information to pupils with disabilities

This is explained in the DfE's advice for schools on the Equality Act (paragraph 4.29).
