The children at John Keble rounded off Poetry Week with their very own Poetry Slam.
Classes competed against each other for the prize of new poetry books to add to their reading corners and boy was the competition intense! Please Mrs Butler, performed in a dress and a wig by the enthusiastic Year sixes launched the jam in exceptional style and voice. Every class from Year 1 to Year 6 took part, learning their poems by heart and putting them to movements. Such was the quality of the performances, every child and adult in the room was enthralled. In the end it was a close run contest, with 3 Lime victorious. Their rendition of The Moon by Robert Louis Stevenson earned them 50 points from the team of pupil judges; just 2 points ahead of three other classes. A huge congratulations to the children for so enthusiastically taking part.
