Prevent Strategy

Prevent is a key part of the government’s counter-terrorism strategy, CONTEST. The aim is to stop young people from becoming terrorists, supporting terrorism and extremist ideology, build resilience to radicalisation and enable children to challenge extremist views.

Many of the things we do in school to help pupils become positive, happy members of society also contribute to the Prevent strategy. Our digital safety learning, coupled with our PHSE curriculum ensures that students are provided with a safe space in which they can develop knowledge and skills to be able to identify extremist ideology, understand and discuss sensitive topics whilst being equipped with the skills to be able to keep themselves safe and challenge extremist views.

We are particularly mindful of the fact that young people can be exposed to extremist influences or prejudiced views via the Internet and social media. We ask that you work together with us in maintaining high levels of vigilance, being aware of what your child(ren) are accessing online and have put in place appropriate controls.
